Purpose of a battery

The main role of the car’s battery is to supply the required power to start the vehicle.

In addition, the battery also performs as a surge protector for the vehicle’s ECU (computer) and delivers power for short-term use of items like GPS, wipers, stereo and lights  when the engine is off.

Note- If you ever find yourself in a situation where a jump start is required, we cannot stress enough how important it is to jump start it correctly. If you have the battery hooked up incorrectly, it can cause damage to a multitude of things. The worst scenario if frying / damaging the vehicle’s ECU. This is quite a costly repair. If in doubt, organise a tow. It costs a lot less than a new ECU.
