Purpose of the receiver drier (a/c filter) / desiccant bag in your car

A receiver drier plays the role of a temporary storage container as well as a filter that removes unwanted / potentially damaging debris and moisture from the refrigerant.

High pressure refrigerant liquid enters the filter and leaves as low pressure liquid.
